Malte Müller

Malte Müller was born in Lichtenfels, Bavaria, and began his musical training while singing in the Regensburg Cathedral Boys Choir. After distinguishing himself in the study of law, he commenced musical studies in voice at the Mannheim University of Music with Rudolf Piernay and Alejandro Ramírez. A formative influence was the Puerto Rican tenor Edgardo Zayas, who advised him in the technique of bel canto singing. Müller also participated in masterclasses with Gundula Janowitz, Christoph Prégardien and Hans-Peter Blochwitz.
Müller has appeared as soloist with various orchestras and ensembles including the Zurich Symphony Orchestra, the Regensburg Philharmonic, L’arpa festante, La Banda, Kurpfalz Chamber Orchestra, Ansbach Chamber Orchestra, Karlovy Vary Symphony Orchestra, Minsk Symphony Orchestra, Schönbrunn Palace Ensemble Vienna, and the Beethoven Academy Orchestra Krakow. His concert repertoire ranges from the Baroque to the Late Romantic era, and also includes German film hits, operetta arias, and highlights from classic musicals. He has appeared in venues such as the Zurich Tonhalle, the KKL in Lucerne, Munich’s Herkulessaal, the Essen Philharmonie, and the Kaisersaal in the Banz Monastery.
Malte Müller’s operatic work includes the role of Hermes in the world premiere of Prometheus by Graham Buckland at the Castle Český Krumlov, the tenor roles in the world premiere of Unreine Tragödien und aussätzige Dramatiker by Timo Jouko Herrmann at the Heidelberg Theatre, and Baron Kronthal in Der Wildschütz by Albert Lortzing. When he gave his Wagnerian debut at the Kulturwald Festival in August 2016 with the Beethoven Academy Krakow under the direction of Andreas Spering, the Süddeutsche Zeitung noted that “Malte Müller left a dazzling impression as the obsequious Mime”.
Malte Müller is also an avid devotee of the art song tradition and works with pianists such as Hans-Dieter Bauer (who is also a Steinway Artist) and Götz Payer. He maintains a personal website at  www.maltemueller.info
