Fazit: Rattinger ist eine wunderschöne Solo-Debut-CD gelungen, eine Zierde für jede Sammlung Alter Musik und ganz im Speziellen der Gambenmusik.

Jakob David Rattinger
Jakob David Rattinger, born in Graz, studied in his home town as well as in Vienna, Nuremberg and Basel. He was particularly shaped by the Schola Cantorum Baseliensis. Among others, his teachers were Pierre Pitzl, Anthony Rooley, Paolo Pandolfo and Christophe Coin.
He regularly performs as a soloist and a Continuist in German-speaking and French-speaking areas, together with ensembles and orchestras such as Cantus Firmus Solothurn, The Lucerne Symphony Orchestra, La Chapelle Rhénane, et al.
In 1999 he founded the Ensemble Le Cœur passionné, performing with varying instrumentations. In his capacity as the manager of the ensemble he lays great emphasis on new and different ways of interpretation.
Therefore, each of his performances sets new highlights, is spontaneous in its development, and is not kin to any of the others before. His occupation with the basso continuo plays a big part in his pedagogic activities. In all his doings, the living and improvising character of the repertory is given absolute priority.
Rattinger concentrates his artistic work mainly on Baroque music. Various, partly award-winning, CDs and radio broadcasts, are a document to the distinguished career of the musician.
In addition to his performances and his pedagogic activities he devotes a great deal of his time to instrument-making and to the historical and musicological milieu of the viola da gamba.
Since 2006, Rattinger has been in charge of the Barockmusikzyklus Graz (cycle of Baroque music), and he regularly chairs courses on early music.
